Brian C. Lee, Allison M. McMeechan, Clifford C. Masch, and Julian T. Emerson Assume Management Roles for Select Practice Areas

CLEVELAND, OH – Reminger Co., LPA is pleased to announce that we have named four new practice group chairs. Brian C. Lee has been named Co-Chair of Architects and Engineers/Construction Liability; Allison M. McMeechan has been named Chair of Probate Administration, Trust Administration and Guardianships; Clifford C. Masch has been named Co-Chair of Appellate Advocacy; and Julian T. Emerson has been named Co-Chair of Environmental/Mass Tort/Class Action.

Brian Lee, Architects and Engineers/Construction Liability Co-Chair: Brian has developed an extensive and diverse practice over the past decade, driven by his reputation, litigation style and client referrals. He serves as Co-Chair of both Reminger’s Commercial Litigation group and Architects and Engineers/Construction Liability group. He is also a practice group leader for the General Casualty/Excess & Surplus group as well as one of the lead attorneys in the White Collar/Criminal Defense practice group.

Brian focuses heavily on the defense of architects and engineers in design defect disputes, as well as contractors and developers in construction defect and OSHA violation claims. He litigates and advises clients in complex business claims arising from allegations of tortious interference, enforcement/violations of non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, breaches of contract, and employment issues, including claims of discrimination. He also defends catastrophic loss and injury lawsuits, whether resulting from a claimed product defect or a premises liability claim from one of his nationally known Fortune 500 clients. And, when there is no conflict with the interests of the firm’s clients, Brian has filed numerous lawsuits and taken cases to jury on behalf of injured victims, focusing on recovering substantial settlements for his clients.

He has tried numerous cases, both civil and criminal, to jury in and outside of Ohio. He has been brought in shortly before trial upon request by clients or carriers, and represents clients in multiple states, appearing in several state and federal courts throughout the country. In addition to appearing in front of numerous state and federal courts, Brian has handled cases in numerous other forums, including the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the Ohio Civil Rights Commission (OCRC), the California Department of Industrial Relations – Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (CDLSE), and the California Employment Development Department (CEDD).

Brian is recognized by Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine as a “Rising Star,” and is a member of various professional associations, including a past member of the Young Lawyers Steering Committee for the Defense Research Institute, and past appointment to serve multiple terms as the Substantive Liaison for the DRI's Law Practice Management Committee. 

Allison M. McMeechan, Probate Administration, Trust Administration and Guardianships Chair: Allison focuses her practice on elder and special needs law, including estate and long-term care planning, estate and trust administration, probate and guardianships.  In addition to serving as Chair of our Probate Administration, Trust Administration and Guardianships practice group, Allison also serves as the Chair of the Elder Law and Special Needs Planning practice group

Allison has published articles and is a frequent speaker in the areas of probate, estate planning, government benefits, and special needs trusts. Her audiences include individuals, bar associations, non-profit organizations, and other professional organizations.

Allison is an Accredited Attorney with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys National and Ohio Chapters and the Ohio State Bar Association's Estate, Trust & Probate Law Section, and Elder & Special Needs Law Committee.  Allison is currently serving as Secretary of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s Estate Planning, Probate & Trust Law Section.  In addition, Allison serves as a member of the Board of the Consortium Against Adult Abuse (C3A), Hospice of the Western Reserve's Advisory Committee, the Board of Directors of Milestones Autism Resources, and the Board of Directors of Ohio Living Breckenridge Village.

Allison has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine and was also selected to the Crain’s Cleveland Business 2016 “Forty Under Forty” Class.   

Clifford C. Masch, Appellate Advocacy Co-Chair:  In addition to his role as Co-Chair of the Appellate Advocacy practice group, Cliff serves as the General Counsel of Reminger, and as Co-Chair of the law firm’s Insurance Coverage/Bad Faith practice group. He primarily focuses his practice on complex insurance coverage litigation, appellate practice, professional liability, oil and gas, and general liability. He practices in courts throughout the State of Ohio and provides representation to insurance clients in other states. In addition to having argued in the Ohio Supreme Court nine times, Cliff has litigated matters in virtually every appellate district in the State of Ohio, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

Cliff has been a featured speaker on issues involving insurance coverage and litigation. He has been retained to act as an arbitrator on insurance coverage issues, and as an insurance expert, testifying on one occasion before the Royal Court of London. He has authored numerous articles in the area of insurance coverage law.

Cliff has been listed in Best Lawyers in America for Appellate Practice and Insurance Law since 2007. In fact, he was selected by Best Lawyers as “Lawyer of the Year for Appellate Practice – Cleveland” in 2015. He has also been honored as a “Super Lawyer” by Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine for the past nine years and has been named by them as a Top 100 Ohio Lawyer and a Top 50 Cleveland Lawyer. Prior to joining Reminger, Cliff served as a judicial clerk to the Ohio Court of Claims and as a master commissioner at the Ohio Supreme Court for three years

Julian T. Emerson, Environmental/Mass Tort/Class Action Co-Chair: Julian has represented manufacturers and suppliers in toxic tort litigation, including the representation of asbestos, silica and benzene defendants in various courts throughout Ohio. Julian also handles a very diverse range of matters, including General Casualty, Construction Liability, Commercial Litigation, and Trucking/Commercial Transportation, in all levels of various courts throughout Ohio, including state, federal, and appellate courts.

Additionally, Julian is very involved at Reminger, sitting on Reminger’s Diversity Committee, Mentoring Committee, Law Clerk Hiring Committee, and the Reminger Foundation Board. Since 2012, Julian has served as an Adjunct Professor for Cleveland-Marshall College of Law's Mock Trial Team, coaching second and third year law students in trial advocacy. He is a member of various professional associations, including The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, The National Bar Association, and the Norman S. Minor Bar Association. Julian also serves as one of Reminger’s representatives for the Cleveland Legal Aid Society’s “Partners in Justice” initiative.

Julian has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine, and multiple times as “Who’s Who in Black Cleveland.”
