D. Cheryl Atwell, Andrew Dorman, John Patrick, Myra Barsoum Stockett Take on New Responsibilities

Cleveland OH – Reminger Co., LPA is pleased to announce the appointment of new practice groups chairs/co-chairs for several of our practice groups:

Legal Malpractice Group Chair: D. Cheryl Atwell 

D. Cheryl Atwell: Cheryl began her civil liability defense career in Cleveland. Over the last thirty years her practice has evolved from a general litigation practice with an emphasis on product liability work to professional liability defense work for lawyers, doctors, dentists and insurance agents. Cheryl has tried over 50 professional liability cases. She represents Waste Management and other general liability clients. She has also been a featured speaker at various northeast Ohio seminars for continuing education regarding legal and medical malpractice issues.

For the 2007 trial year, American Physicians Assurance Corporation awarded Cheryl the title of Ohio Lawyer of the Year in recognition of her multiple trial victories and high percentage of file closings without payment. In September 2010, Cheryl was a member of a three-person panel at the ABA National Legal Malpractice Conference. Cheryl was selected as a YWCA Woman of Professional Excellence in 2013. Cheryal has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine from 2009 through 2014.

Professional Malpractice Group Chair: Andrew Dorman

Andrew Dorman: Andy’s practice focuses on a wide range of civil defense litigation, including professional liability, employment, directors and officers liability, commercial litigation, complex tort litigation, real estate litigation and securities litigation. Between 1999 and 2009, Andy was a partner in another Cleveland law firm, chairing the firm's business litigation practice group.

Andy has tried civil jury trials and arbitrations throughout the State of Ohio and its adjoining states, and has argued before the majority of Ohio's appellate districts. Andy also has handled numerous matters in Illinois, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana, Maryland, North Carolina and Michigan. Andy has also represented numerous foreign-based institutional, corporate and individual clients, and domestic litigation including clients based in Europe, Africa, Canada, and Asia. Andy has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine from 2008 through 2014, and repeatedly has been identified in Best Lawyers in America for Commercial Litigation and Insurance Law.

Real Estate Chair: John Patrick

John Patrick: Prior to commencing his legal career, John obtained his degree in accounting and practiced as a tax accountant. While attending law school, he also enrolled in graduate classes so that he was able to simultaneously obtain his law degree and his master's degree in taxation. Consequently, John concentrates his practice in business and tax related areas of law. These areas include estate planning, business and corporate planning and transactions, mergers and acquisitions, real estate acquisition, development, sales and leases and probate, estate and trust administration.

John is a featured speaker to attorneys and professionals as well as to the public on the technical and practical aspects of his practice. He has been repeatedly identified in Best Lawyers in America for Corporate Law.

Insurance Coverage/Bad Faith Co-Chair: Myra Barsoum Stockett

Myra Barsoum Stockett: Myra handles all aspects of insurance coverage matters from coverage opinions to litigation, as well as guidance in drafting policy language.  Myra counsels, advises and defends clients in coverage and bad faith claims across the State of Ohio.  She has put on countless seminars and educational days for clients across the nation. Myra also handles a wide range of civil defense litigation, including workers' compensation, complex tort litigation, employment and professional liability. She is an experienced litigator, having handled cases in several different Ohio forums, including state and federal courts, appellate courts, and administrative hearings throughout Ohio. Myra also serves as General Counsel for a privately owned physician recruiting company.

Myra is a frequent author in professional journals and has presented in national seminars as well as numerous legal educational seminars to both legal professionals and non-legal professionals in the areas of insurance coverage, tort reform, and general liability. She has been recognized as a Rising Star in Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine.
